Terms & Conditions (01/01/2026)
Age Requirement: For Groups Y, O, J, Y Eco and O Eco for both credit card holders and cash renters minimum age 25 years and maximum 70 years. For all other groups minimum age 25 years and maximum age 70 years.
Young Drivers: Supplement of 10€ per day for ages 21-24 years for categories Y, O, J, Y Eco and O Eco. Named driver must hold a valid and point free license for more than 12 months.
Mature Drivers: Supplement of 5€ per day for ages 71-75yrs, must have valid and point free license.
Mature Drivers: Supplement of 5€ per day for ages 71-80 years. Named driver must hold valid and point free license.
Named Drivers: Only named drivers are insured to drive the vehicles. Vehicles will be confiscated if driven by an unnamed driver as this void’s insurance cover.
Drivers License: A valid driver’s license held for at least one year is required. European licenses are accepted. Non-European drivers must hold an international driver’s license unless Greek Traffic Authority advises otherwise. Drivers must always have a hard copy of their license with them as required by Greek Law.
Minimum Rental: One day. Delayed returns will have only 30 minutes extra return time. Following this 30-minute period a full day’s rental will be charged.
Cancellations: For online bookings notification of rental cancellation must be given at least 14 days in advance otherwise the reservation fee pre-paid will be charged, plus any credit card cancellation costs. For local bookings notification must be given at least 24hours in advance or 50% of daily rate will be charged.
Discount Coupons: Bookings made with the use of Discount Coupons are non-refundable.
Confirmations: For online bookings you will be asked to confirm your rental details 48 hours prior to your delivery in-order to streamline your delivery process. Bookings may be automatically cancelled if not confirmed within specified time limits. In such cases no refunds are given.
Traffic Fines: Traffic fines and all administrative sanctions resulting from any form of violation of Greek Traffic Law during the rental period are borne solely by the named driver. Any vehicles which cannot be rented due to car number plate confiscation by the authorities will also be charged to the renter at the daily rate.
Accident / Incident: If an accident occurs call us immediately so all necessary insurance and legal procedures can be activated. Do not move the vehicle unless advised by our staff. If any warning lights illuminate on the dashboard display, stop the vehicle immediately and call us. Failure to do so will result in the named driver being held responsible for all damages, mechanical and otherwise, to the vehicle.
Parked Vehicles: Any damages to parked vehicles are the sole responsibility of the named driver unless the data of the third party involved plus acceptance of responsibility by them is produced.
Deposits: A standard 200€ deposit is required for rentals being collected and returned to Airports and Ports. Own risk / excess deposits are taken as pre-authorisations from debit / credit cards. Cash deposits for non-debit / credit card holders are required equal to the value of the vehicle group excess policy regardless of the insurance package taken by the named driver.
Excess / Own Risk: Pre-authorised own risk / excess amounts are released from us within 48hours of the return of the vehicle. Bank administrative procedures may take up to 30 days to complete such transactions. ‘Karydis & Co. OE’ bear no responsibility for such delays.
Fuel: Fuel consumption is payable by the renter. Our fuel policy is ‘same to same’. Clients are obliged to leave the car with the same amount of fuel as when delivered, otherwise a fuel charge will be applied. We do not give refunds for vehicles returned with excess fuel.
Child Cots / Baby Seats / Booster Seats: This equipment is only available upon request. An extra 5€ per day is charged for standard seats subject to availability. We provide car seats which are of a basic standard. ISOFIX seats can be provided on request and subject to availability at a daily charge of 10€. Some of our vehicles can fit ISOFIX but we cannot guarantee that your rental vehicle will have ISOFIX fittings. Our baby seats are kept in the best possible condition, however they are used by multiple guests and may show signs of wear and tear. All our baby seats are CE certified and legal for use. If you are not satisfied that the seats we can provide will be the best option for you, we advise you to bring your own. Our staff are not obliged to fit baby seats, this is the responsibility of the childs legal guardians. We do not accept any responsibility for the safety of our seats or for seats not fitting correctly due to car model restrictions.
Availability: Vehicles are booked by ‘Group Type’, not by a specific make or model. Images shown in any media are for illustration purposes only, and the vehicle provided may differ from the one pictured. Incidents may occur and in exceptional cases compel us to supply another ‘Group Type’. In rare cases where we are not be able to deliver your vehicle, any deposits paid will be refunded.
Delivery and Collection: The North of the island has a delivery/collection charge of 100€ per way. All other locations are complementary, except for deliveries / collections between 20:00 hours – 08:00 hours which have a surcharge of 20€ per-way.
Contactless Deliveries: The named driver must complete our ‘Contactless’ pre-delivery process for deliveries to be eligible. Otherwise, we will not be able to proceed with the contactless service, in such cases we will have to proceed with a manual delivery.
Ferries: It is strictly forbidden to take the vehicle on any ferry as this will void the insurance policy. Under no circumstance should any vehicle leave the island of Zakynthos. Any damages plus the re-patriating costs of the vehicle are the sole responsibility of the named driver.
GPS Trackers: All our vehicles have the use of GPS tracking devices. GPS tracking devices are used to track the location of our vehicles as part of our services for both safety and security. By using our services, you acknowledge and provide consent for the use of GPS tracking devices to track the location of our vehicle as described above. We take data privacy seriously and will handle all tracking data with utmost security. Tracking data may be collected, stored, and used for the purpose of providing our services and improving our offerings, and will not be shared with third parties without proper consent or as required by law.
Car Radio, Media & Charging Systems: We do not guarantee that a vehicle’s audio, media, or charging systems will be compatible with customers’ mobile phones or other personal devices. Some vehicles may include charging ports or cable connectors however, these may not be compatible with, or fully functional for every device. Bluetooth connectivity is likewise not assured, as not all devices are supported. We accept no responsibility for any failure of such systems or for any lack of connectivity. It is the renter’s responsibility to ensure that open-top vehicles and their media systems are properly protected from rainfall and other natural elements.
Replacement Vehicles: In case of a breakdown your vehicle will be replaced. Group Type and period will depend on availability. If we do not have availability a refund for unused days may be issued depending on circumstances. In the case of an accident, vehicle replacement will depend on cause of damage and availability.
Car Cleaning: A minimum charge of 70€ + VAT will be applied for the interior or exterior of cars returned in an extremely dirty condition. This will also apply for wet car seats, tarnished car seats from suntan oil or sweat and dirty boot space. A minimum charge of 100€ + VAT will be applied for cars returned with road tar on them.
Callouts: A minimum charge of 70€ + VAT will be applied for unnecessary callouts. A minimum charge of 100€ + VAT will be applied for unnecessary callouts to the North of the island.
Incorrect Fuel: Damages caused due to incorrect fuel including down time of rental vehicle are sole responsibility of the driver.
Wrangler Jeeps: These vehicles have hard tops which can only be fitted and removed at our office. For rentals at the beginning and end of season we keep the roofs on due to uncertain weather conditions. Guests are not allowed to remove roofs by themselves. For rentals more than 5 days Guests can request to have roof fitted during the summer period.
Collision Damage Waiver Insurance (C.D.W.): With C.D.W. insurance the named drivers’ liability is reduced for all categories, the own risk (excess) is 1,200€ + VAT. However, C.D.W. insurance does not cover damages to the vehicle caused by driver negligence, driving on un-asphalted roads, or violating Greek Traffic Law. Any unrepairable damage to tires, rims, undercarriage or interior of the vehicle will be paid for by the named driver. Furthermore, keys, canvas roofs, media systems, wheel covers (hubcaps) and other accessories are not covered by C.D.W. insurance. Named drivers are obliged to inform us immediately of any incident otherwise insurance will be rendered void. Administrative costs for insurance and legal reports apply at the cost of 150€ + VAT and are borne by the named driver.
Personal Accident Insurance (P.A.I.): Personal Accident Insurance can be obtained for 7€ per day per vehicle, covering the named driver and each passenger with the following amounts respectively: named driver loss of life up to 17,808€ / named driver bodily injuries up to 17,808€ / each passenger loss of life up to 1,000,000€ / each passenger bodily injuries up to 1,000,000€.
Additional Drivers: For each additional driver (max 2 drivers per vehicle) there is a surcharge of 5€ per day.
Super C.D.W. Insurance (SCDW): Covers the vehicle for damages to the tyres, rims, undercarriage, initial legal aid, also covering additional drivers and passengers for P.A.I. With this package the excess on all categories of cars is wavered. Amounts for this package is 12€ per day. However, this insurance does not cover damages to the vehicle if they have been caused by negligence, on non-asphalt covered roads, by any violation of the Greek Traffic Law, also any unrepairable damages the tyres, rims, undercarriage or interior of the vehicle will be paid for by the renter. Furthermore, keys, canvas roofs, media systems, wheel covers and other accessories are not covered by S.C.D.W. insurance. Named drivers are obliged to inform us immediately of any incident otherwise insurance will be rendered void. Administrative costs for insurance and legal reports apply at the cost of 150€ + VAT and are borne by the named driver.
Lost or Damaged Keys: Lost or damaged keys are not covered by any insurance policy. The costs are as follows for replacement keys: non-electric keys 90€ + VAT, electric keys 120€ + VAT, key-less entry vehicles 400€ + VAT. Additionally, callout charges may be applicable.
Off-Road Driving: Driving on non-asphalt covered roads is strictly forbidden. We reserve the right to confiscate vehicles being driven off-road. All damages and retrievals are not covered by either CDW or SCDW insurance. Administrative costs for insurance and legal reports apply at the cost of 150€ + VAT and are borne by the named driver. Any associated rental downtime costs as well as replacement vehicle cost is the sole responsibility of the named driver.
Clutches: Damage to the clutch is not covered by any insurance policy. The costs for replacement clutches are as follows: categories Y, O, M, J, Open and Eco 200€ + VAT / for all other categories 450€ + VAT. Any associated rental downtime costs as well as replacement vehicle cost is the sole responsibility of the named driver.
Police / Insurance Reports Verdicts: Verdicts from Police reports and / or Insurance reports are based on EU traffic laws and are final. The result of these verdicts determines liability/responsibility of accidents.
Disputes: All disputes which may arise between ‘Karydis & Co. OE’ and the named driver will be settled before the competent courts of Greece. The named driver and all additional authorized drivers are each personally and jointly liable and by renting a vehicle through ‘Karydis & Co. OE’ they accept and acquire no rights other than stated in our ‘Terms and Conditions’.
